Your video can be about anything that helps you avoid becoming a teen parent, or a teen parent a second time, getting an STD, being abusive, doing drugs, joining a gang, or anything else that could put your health, life and future in jeopardy.

JUDGING

Judges will consider the following criterion when viewing and grading eligible video entries:

  1. Content: Is the "message" engaging and appropriate to the theme of the contest?
    • Be sure the content of your video addresses the theme “Until I Say I Do, I Don’t.” Your video should express how you make positive choices to avoid the risks of sex before marriage and other risky or unhealthy behaviors including drug use or gang involvement.
    • The content should be appropriate for all audiences—i.e. a "G" rating.
  2. Creativity: Is the idea shared innovative and creative?
    • The judges will be looking at the power of your message and how you encourage others to make positive choices by explaining why it is important.
    • Your video should show why remaining abstinent (not having sex, doing drugs, joining a gang, etc.) is important to you and should be to others.
  3. Execution: Is the use of technology effective and used appropriately to get the "message" across to the audience?
    • It is recommended that you watch your own video and focus on the use of the video camera. Ask yourself:
      • Can we see the youth speaking?
      • Can we understand and hear the speaking?
      • Is the youth speaking clearly? i.e. no mumbling, excessive noise
  4. Effect: Was the overall effect achieved in communicating to the audience?
    • It is recommended that you watch your video again. This time focus on how well you communicated your message. Ask yourself:
      • Is my voice too loud or too soft?
      • Is my speech too fast or too slow?
      • Are any flashcards or pictures used easy to read or see?
      • Is the message appropriate for all audiences i.e. "G"rating?

Remember to avoid using any copyrighted music or other copyrighted audio/visual materials.

Up to five individuals will be selected to judge eligible video entries based on the pre-established criterion and rating system. Judges will utilize these criteria to critique and rate each entry. Rating scores will be tallied and ranked. Comments will be taken into consideration to assist in any “tie” situations. Judges may or may not be employed by Rosalie Manor Community & Family Services, however each will likely have an affiliation with the organization.

The entries that earn the highest marks will be selected as the Grand Prize (1st Place), 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and 4th Place winners.

Winners will be posted at UntilISay.com between July 27 and August 2, 2009. The four prize winners will be awarded and notified during that time period. Winners will be advised at that time as to their options for claiming his/her prize.
