Teens Sound Off
It didn’t take long for Milwaukee teens to SOUND OFF about what they think about sex before marriage and other risky activities. And, hey, it really is true, teens right here in our hometown - teens just like you -- are making the choice to put off sex until they’re really ready for the responsibilities and consequences pre-marital sex brings.
Read about what these teens have to say, SOUND OFF yourself, and check back regularly!

My mom has always been real with me when it comes to sex. She told me about the consequences of sex and put me in the FUPTP summer program 3 years ago when I was 13. Now I’m 16 and I probably know more about sex and what it can do to teens than she does. I try to talk to my younger sisters and cousins about not having sex until they are married. They understand why I have chosen to practice abstinence. I don’t want to get an STI or have a baby while I’m in high school. |

All my friends brag all the time that they are having sex. My mom says that they are lying, but I don’t know. Am I the only teen not having sex?
Answer: No, Ebony, you are not the only teen having sex. In fact, only 1 out 5 teens are actually having sex. |

I have goals that I don’t want to throw away. I want to finish high school, go to college, and one day have a big family. I know that if I have sex now, I can mess all of that up. |

It seems like all of my friends had a story, but I saw what sex did to someone I knew. Even for guys, it can mess up your cred, and I don’t want that to happen to me. I know that when I’m older and married with a good job, I’ll be able to take care of a family. I’m in no rush. |
